Abstrakty

The rescue protection of the Polish region which is aimed to minimize casualties and material losses in sea accidents is the main priority of the Polish SAR forces. The planning methods should take into consideration specific conditions of the sea area and its hydrometeorological conditions. The paper is focused on problems connected with determining the searching area for people in danger drifting under the influence of sea currents and requiring rescue assistance. Possibilities of using GIS about sea currents to determine the searching area are also presented. Such solution is based on research of sea currents to optimize SAR operations at the Polish seaside.
