Progress in many fields of science and technology has contributed to development of IT required in various areas of our life from public administration to entertainment industry. In each of these areas of human activity, space and time oriented information systems are used. In view of specific features of this research, subjects connected with fast acquisition of data and making spatial information available are discussed in this paper. In the institutional sense, these works are aimed at creation of .future technological support. for quickly reacting services of various kind in order to support civil population protection. Specific, often extreme work conditions of these services, featured with dynamic variability of situation, make it impossible to use many existing geoinformation solutions. The proposals presented in the paper draw attention to the role of measurement process in acquisition of data and making them available thanks to the possibility of using a quasi-automatic photogrammetric system. However, these proposals do not constitute any comprehensive solutions and do not refer to any geoinformation platforms, they only indicate the possibility of realization of certain functions which could extend functionability of GIS. The proposed solutions are directly addressed to fire brigades, emergency ambulance services etc. In most cases, effectiveness of their actions depends on answers to such questions as what? where? when? Time is always a critical element and questions concerning objects or phenomena and their location in the space have a completely new meaning. Existing data e.g. about buildings or bridges lose its relevance in local sense in face of a construction disaster. Besides, how can rescue service, which require information of various kind, operate in an organized way (as close as possible to the optimal way in the use of efforts and means) in .unknown. area. Fast updating of data on the basis of satellite or aerial images is rather excluded, because of the time needed for their acquisition, processing and entering into the database. An alternative is to supply the rescue team with remote sensing equipment. Equally important issue is access of the rescuer to the information about terrain and dynamically changing tasks for him to realize. Systems dedicated to passing voice messages may be replaced by systems of visual information. The solutions presented in the paper refer both to methods of data acquisition and making the information available. However, the key element for their functioning are so called image metadata. Thanks to properly space oriented image data there is a possibility to locate, in relatively short time, objects in terrain by means of terrestrial photogrammetry analysis. The same data about location and spatial orientation also allow exposition of information in the form of so called widened perception of reality. In the paper, the notion of image metadata is defined and configuration solutions enabling acquisition of a/m data are characterized together with an author.s proposal. Information systems acquiring and processing image metadata and making them available could be used when spatial data are incomplete or when fast access to updated information is needed.
