Di-2-ethylhexy] (DEHP), dibuty] (DBP) and benzylbutyl phthalate (BBP) are good and cheap plasticizers of PVC. For many years DEHP was accepted as non detrimental chemical [1]. but recently it is suspected of toxic activity on young children and teratogenic effects on people. For this reason. European Union [2] and Polish Republic [3] authorities limited areas of possible applications of phthalate plasticizers. Di-isononyl 1,4-cyclohexane dicarboxylate and citric acid esters are some possibilities to substitute over DEHP. Polyester plasticizers and low toxic di-2-ethylhexyl terephtha-late are also taken into consideration. Our team has worked some years in the area of poly(ethyleneterephthalate) chemical recycling [4-6]. This paper presents our investigations on terephthalic plasticizers technology. Terephthalate plasticizers may be cheap products, if they are produced from recycled PET.

Wykazano, że oligoestry tereftalowe, otrzymane w wyniku chemicznego recyklingu PET, są dobrymi plastyfikatorami PVC niejednokrotnie przewyższającymi handlowe zmiękczacze. Tak plastyfikowany PVC odznacza się dużą wytrzymałością mechaniczną oraz niewielką migrację plastyfikatora. Dodatkową zaletą nowych plastyfikatorów jest niska cena.
