In the paper, studies of the ion-exchange technique in glass in the presence of an external electric field are presented. A new description of the process is proposed which takes into consideration the mobility dependence on the concentration of substituted ions and better fits theoretical characteristic to the experimental data. Theoretical results are verified experimentally for the electrodiffusion process of Ag+ ions in certain types of glass. The formation of wave guides buried by electrodiffusuin process is also considered
