Omówiono znaczenie nowych mediów w rozwoju współczesnych społeczeństw, znaczenie społeczeństwa informacyjnego. Przedstawiono zagadnienie społeczeństwa informacyjnego w strategiachpołitycznych różnych krajów. Szczegółną uwagę poświęcono probłemom społeczeństwa informacyjnego w programach Unii Europejskiej.

The significance of new media for the development of contemporary societies and the significance of the information society is discussed. The article also presents issues of the information society in the political strategies of various countries. Special attention is paid to the problems of the information society in the European Union programmes.
