The paper shows that the hierarchical structure of computer system memory organization during man-computer interaction can lead to the existence of phenomena that can be considered in terms of non-equilibrium statistical mechanics. The analysis of probability distribution shows the existence of power-laws in the rate at which operating system resolves data from hard drive caused by the hardware page faults in virtual memory mechanism.
