The subject of the article is to present innovative financing in regard to transport investments, as well as practical solutions in American and West European conditions and perspectives of their implementation in Poland. The shortage of financial means, especially concerning transport infrastructure investments in the light of growing needs is the reason for sourcing new methods and forms of financing. It leads to the most advanced innovative methods developed in the United States. American innovative financing investments of road infrastructure attract private investors and favour an increase of effectiveness of public means management. In spite of different Polish conditions of implementation, it is useful to become familiar with foreign activities. Innovation in transport in the European Union has been mainly associated with new technologies and organisation of enterprises, but also have concerned infrastructure financing and developing new financing instruments and improving management of common funds. In practice, it has to be mentioned public and private partnership and large infrastructure mega-projects with private capital involvement. Also, in Polish geopolitical and economic situation, the essential issue enabling any actions towards developing innovative solutions in financing transport infrastructure is forming effective framework for private capital attraction.
