Abstrakty
The studies of thermal ageing of low density polyethylene and plastic intended for cable coverings production and stabilized by changing amount of thermal stabilizer have been made. It was found, on the basis of conducted test of thermal ageing, that because of ageing characteristic the introducing of insignificant amount (0.015% w/w) of the antioxidant could ensure the realization of accepted criterion of resistance on thermal ageing. It was recognized, that the thermal ageing estimation of covering polyethylene can not be used for establishment of the amount of the stabilizer in polymer, but can only confirm its presence in the plastic. The quantitative studies for contents of stabilizer in covering polyethylene should be realized with using instrumental analysis method. The selection of the optimal amount of the antioxidant in polyethylene needs to take into account the additional criteria, such like the oxygen induction time.
