A compound Ca6[Cr(OH)J2(CrO4)3(n-6)H2O was synthesised which has a structure of ettringite type and formula, where n is uncertain but probably at least 26 and possibly 32, as in ettringite. On being heated in air, it becomes amorphous at 323K and at higher temperatures gives CaCrO4 and CaO. It is probably a new compound, since no data was found about such a substance.
