A two factor field experiment was carried out, in which doses of lupine extract (3 and 5 kg/ha of TS) were the first factor. The other one was a type of nitrogenous fertilizer (ammonium nitrate and magmol, i.e. ammonium nitrate enriched with magnesium and molybdenum). The extract used in the investigation was the waste material from a process of the bitter lupin debittering. The conducted investigations showed that spraying increased the leek yield by app. 16.6%. Nitrogenous fertilization influenced the amount of yield far more intensively. It was proved that the application of a lupin extract does not have a significant effect on the contents of total nitrogen in the tested vegetable, but it significantly limits the nitrate accumulation both in leaves (av. 30.2%) and swellings (av. 13.1%).
