This paper presents a new method for diagnosing the technical condition of the Winding insulation using the diffuse voltage wave. This method consists in generating voltage in tested winding at the time of direct current shutdown. Distribution of this voltage at each winding is the same. Such voltage distribution is not achieved by examining insulation with external voltage wave. The technical assessment criteria for winding insulation are the frequency of the induced voltage wave and the damping factor. The method was developed in BOBRME Komel and patented [3].
