EN

The new method of introducing silver into flat textile products is presented. It involves the photochemical reduction, by UV radiation of the precipitated silver chloride resulting from ion exchange reaction of compounds: silver nitrate and sodium chloride. The process and the influence of process parameters on the amount of silver introduced into textile products is described as well. Using atomic spectrometry (AAS) the actual amount of the introduced silver into textiles can be defined. Antibacterial performance and its durability of modified textiles against bacteria (Staphylococcus ureus, Escherichia coli) and fungi (Candida albicans, Aspergillus Niger) is also evaluated. Side effect of the above modification - colour change of products - is analyzed. The range of textiles to which described method can be used is indicated, too.
