SOP-2 and SOP-2P are an automatic train protection systems (ATP) designed to assist the driver in driving the train in the safest way. It provides relevant signal information in the cab, continuous monitoring of the actions of the driver and the motion of the train. SOP systems are designed to be transparent to the driver, as long as the traffic regulations are followed. If the traffic situation is regarded dangerous, SOP systems will intervene and brake the train down to a safe speed, or stop the vehicle before an obstacle. In this paper the interfaces between SOP electronic central unit and train were described. Logic of the presented solutions for this interface, due to safety functions they perform, is mainly based on relays, however an indisputable advantage of this system is its advanced concept, allowing in future using a higher level of automation and establishing the preconditions for a possible co-operation with other systems and also the next generation of technology.
