A goal of the paper is a presentation of a modern approach dedicated to an optimal condition management of aggregates driven by electrical motors. These aggregates are one of the most popular assets used in majority of plants. Cost relationships appointed to various maintenance strategies are presented. An optimization of a used maintenance strategy can result in minimization of plant maintenance expenses. For various strategies have to be used a proper structure of a plant asset management system. This article describes a modern structure of the condition monitoring system and presents the system components that are required to fulfill the most typical maintenance strategies. A discussion of various techniques used for condition monitoring of electrically driven aggregates is provided according to importance of the aggregates for production process. A critical factor of each condition monitoring system is correctness of used transducer types and their fixing. Therefore, a discussion of the most common mistakes in transducer selection and fixing is presented. These mistakes directly influence on maintenance expenditure increasing.
