Modern lift drive systems are very sophisticated and allow to affect almost any part of the speed curve to achieve desirable level of passengers’ comfort. In this paper selected problems of the starting routine of the passengers elevators have been described. The mathematical model of the lift drive system with 3-phase induction motor has been used to examine both frequency converter and motor parameters. The rollback effect of the car during starting up routine has been described. This method of choosing the sets of parameters is very convenient way of selecting an optimal configuration of frequency converter and the motor to achieve “smooth” start of the lift car . Selected plots of phase current, velocity frequency and voltage curves have been shown and described.
