EN

This abstract presents an information of the optimum sizing of a pumping station unit and criteria for the design elements distribution systems. Technical and economic analysis of pumping station have to used information about: water demand and emergency storage, preventative maintenance, wear/life expectancy of subcomponent, repair, power transmission, parallel operation and stand-by equipment, emergency power, surge protection, pumps, valves, piping, motors and controls. This elements have to reduce the generated energy that cannot be transformed to hydraulic energy. Components in distribution systems pumping units, sensing and measuring elements, transmission of data, radio telemetry, GPS, GPRS systems, piping layouts, liquid level sensors, pressure sensors and flow meters are elements the costs a pumping station but eliminate many operational problems. That elements should be made in the planning on process of general design pumping station . The operators of pumping station can analysis existing pumping systems on observations of the operating piping system (pressures, differential pressures, and flow rates), or creating an accurate mathematical model of the piping system and then calculating the pressures and flow rates within the model.
