EN

Mine transportation system is one of the most important factors in technology of useful minerals mining. Mine railway system is also used for run-of-mine transportation in mine undergrounds, apart from extended belt conveyor systems. Mine production level depends to a great degree on the possibilities of run-of-mine transportation from longwall panels to the shafts. Among others, the traction locomotive, based on technological solutions developed in 1970ies, operate at present. Design and principle of operation of Ld-31EM electric locomotive, developed by KOMAG specialists, which is driven by state-of-the-art brushless motors with permanent magnets manufactured by KOMEL Research and Development Centre of Electrical Machines, were presented in the paper. The prototype of locomotive was made in collaboration with ENERGO-MECHANIK Ltd. and ENEL Ltd. Besides, the electric equipment indispensable for increase of work safety and work comfort of the operator was presented.
