EN

The Brushless Permanent Magnet motors (PM motors) have been developing very dynamicly over the last few years due to technological development. Thanks to their high dynamic performances PM motors tend to be used in many applications where the fast torque response is a key issue. In order to take full advantage of the potential of PM motors we need a drive which is able to offer a suitable control algorithm. This article presents fundamentals of PM motors and shows that some new converters offer control methods which makes use of the special futures of Permanent Magnet motors.
