Electrical characteristics of the prismatic high-power Ni/MH battery

In the paper the results of the tests performed on a prismatic 1.2 V, 16 Ah Ni-MH battery constructed in CLAiO and destined for high-drain applications are presented. The tests revealed the differences in discharge capacities and working voltages in relation to the applied charge/discharge regimes. The tested battery showed good cyclic behavior under the regimes typical for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV). The battery shows also high charging efficiency and high degree of charge recovery. Very good values of discharge capacities were obtained at low temperatures. The tests allowed for a preliminary assessment of the applicability of this type of cells in hybrid propulsion.
