Application of batch and flow ultrafiltration for the separation of the used oil-in-water emulsions

This paper presents the results of the research on the separation of the used oil-in-water emulsions in the ultrafiltration process with the application of ceramic membranes. Some exemplary results of the long-lasting tests have been given. On the basis of them a maximum possible oil concentration to obtain in the batch ultrafiltration process, can be determined. As a result of the research a scheme of a plant for continuous oil recovery, based on new technology, has been proposed. The feed for this plant is a concentrated emulsion obtained in the batch process.
