Presented are the results of tests of twist in cotton, viscose, wool, and bast-fiber (flax, hemp, jute) test yarns. The following methods were used: "untwisting to parallel", "direct counting" and "reverse twistling". The first two methods were used for determining the real twist. The values of real twist served as a basis for determining the values of optimum pretension in the reverse twisting tests. It was estabished that using optimum pretension the reverse twisting method gave the same values of twist as the "untwisting-to-parallel" and "direct counting" methods.
