A series of investigations was performed to recognise the possibilities to develop technology, based on solvent extraction, for cadmium(II)/zinc(II) separation, purification and enrichment from industrial solutions. To solve the problem a classical sequence of the research work was performed: i) independent measurements of Cd(II) and Zn(II) extraction versus pH with use of all available extractants, ii) determination of cadmium(II) extraction and stripping isotherms for chosen extractants preparations. The extractive system for the chosen extractant - DIPSA/Cyanex 471X - was designed and tested on technological solution.
