The permanent magnets, able to fulfil most requirements concerning permanent magnets for electrical micromachines, are dielectromagnets from melt-spun ribbon Nd-Fe-B. The papers present the results of the researches on the application of this kind of dielectromagnets in stepping and commutator motors. The weakness of powder's made dielectromagnets is their low mechanical properties, very often making the application difficult. Author finds as necessary to design the technology of dielectromagnets with improved mechanical properties. Papers show the initial trials on the performance of this kind of dielectromagnets. FAO8H is a stepping motor with cylindrical in shape and multi-polar magnetised permanent magnet. First models of FAO8H motors were made with ferrite magnets. Dielectromagnets for FAO8H motors have been prepared from MQP-B powder, made by General Motors from melt-spun ribbon. Magnetic properties of dielectromagnets are shown in Table 1. Mechanical characteristics of motors with ferrite magnet and dielectromagnet have been measured and compared with mechanical characteristic of serial Japan made stepping motor similar in construction and magnets. Mechanical characteristics are shown in Fig. 2. FA-15 is the hybrid type stepping motor with permanent thickwalled ring magnet axially magnetised. The motor is in serial production in Mikroma motor factory with Alnico permanent magnet. Dielectromagnets for FA-15 motor have been prepared from General Motors melt-spun ribbon MQP-D powder and axially magnetised. Magnetic properties of dielectromagnets are shown in Table 2. Models of the FA-15 motor with Alnico 400 and dielectromagnet have been produced and the mechanical characteristics, starting torque in function of operation impulse frequency, have been measured. Results shows Fig. 3. Measures were made for FA-15 motor models with dielectromagnet, with dielectromagnet with enlarged air gap in magnetic circuit and for serial made motor with Alnico 400 magnet. In the commutator motor with permanent magnets designed by a team on Technical University of Wrocław are applied the ferrite magnets from FXD380. For comparison purposes, experiments with FXD380 and dielectromagnets made from different mixtures of the melt-spun ribbon MQP-D powder with the ferrite strontium have been conducted. Table 3 shows the magnetic properties of FXD380 and dielectromagnets. To determine the suitability of dielectromagnets for this type motors, comparative analyses of parameters of the motor excited with ferrite permanent magnets and with the different content dielectromagnets have bee made. Table 4 present the parameters of commutator motors excited with different permanent magnets. Some problems with crushing of hard magnetic powder grains and delamination of the dielectromagnets during magnetisation occurred. During assembling and in normal work of the motor, in dielectromagnets occur some mechanical stresses like stretching, bending and twisting stresses; in effect they can damage the magnet. It makes necessary to develop the technology of dielectromagnets with improved mechanical properties. For the initial investigations on dielectromagnets with improved mechanical properties the hard magnetic powder of melt-spun ribbon Nd-Fe-B type MQP-D has been chosen. As the binder an epoxy resin with iron powder type ABM110.32 by Hogenas as a filler was used. The magnetic properties of dielectromagnets and their compressive strength were measured; table 5 shows the results.
