Ankara - problems of uncontrolled urbanization
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
Ankara city immense development in the recent decades was marked by appearance of large squatters areas, called in Turkish gecekondu. The process of gecekondu develop-ment is caused by the changes in the rural areas in Turkey and the natural migration of village dwellers to big cities of metropolitan character. The Turkish government is cur-rently trying to manage the problem by introduction the new housing policy, which should enable urban development according to European rules. The results of this policy seem not to improve enough the quality of life of the Ankara inhabitants.
