The article has been prepared on the basis of the paper presented by the author during World Tunnel Congress 2007 in Prague. It presents mainly the problems of deformation and the ways of minimization of ground subsidence above tunnels constructed in large municipal agglomerations as in, among others, the capital of Czech Republic - Prague and in Canadian - Vancouver, Californian - Los Angeles.

Artykuł został zredagowany na podstawie referatu wygłoszonego przez Autora podczas World Tunnel Congress 2007 w Pradze. Przedstawiono w nim głównie zagadnienia deformacji ośrodka gruntowego i sposobach minimalizowania osiadania terenu nad tunelami budowanymi w dużych aglomeracjach miejskich, m.in. w stolicy Republiki Czeskiej - Pradze, w kanadyjskim Vancouver, w kalifornijskim Los Angeles.
