The magnetic bearings are used to suspend rigid and flexible highspeed rotors. The magnetic bearings can be divided in two the active magnetic bearing (AMB) and the passive magnetic bearing (PMB). The active magnetic bearings are absorbed energy during work. Whereas the passive magnetic bearings don't absorb energy during work, because they are build from only permanent magnets. The active magnetic bearings are used electromagnetic coils to generate magnetic forces and they should be electrically supplied. The construction of passive magnetic bearings is easy and cheap. It is build from permanent magnets or groups permanent magnets (Halbach's array). Unfortunately, the passive magnetic bearings have disadvantage. We can't design insulated magnetic bearings suspension, where are only passive magnetic bearings. We can only use one or two passive magnetic bearings in the magnetic suspension system. The necessary condition is the one degree of freedom of rotor has got control by the active magnetic actuator. The condition follows from construction of passive magnetic bearings. The repulsive forces between two magnets are used in the passive magnetic bearing. The attractive forces are hardly ever used in the passive magnetic bearing. Magnetic levitation is effect of interact the same magnetic poles (N - north poles or S - south poles), which belong to magnets. The area of stability of magnetic levitation is low in he passive magnetic bearing. The maximally force is only for coaxial location magnets of magnetic bearing. Therefore, the active magnetic actuator ensures coaxial location magnets of magnetic bearing. There is showed project of differential passive magnetic bearing. This bearing was designed for high-speed flexible rotor. The one neodymium magnet MP 41x15x10 - N38 and two neodymium magnets MP 40x22x10 - N38 were used in the passive magnetic bearing. The mathematical model of differential passive magnetic bearing, laboratory model and distribution of magnetic flux density and dynamic characteristic are showed in the article.
