W artykule podjęto próbę podsumowania zmian zachodzących w szeroko rozumianej geotechnice, geomechanice i geologii inżynierskiej, których skutkiem jest inne spojrzenie na geoinżynierię i nowe jej rozumienie. Jesi wynikiem udziału Autora w dwóch konferencjach (w Paryżu i Melbourne) które odbyły się pod koniec ubiegłego stulecia. Artykuł oparto na rozważaniach wynikających z lektury dwóch artykułów (R.N. Morgenstern i J.S. Steenfeid), podsumowujących i uogólniających dokonania geotechniki inżynierskiej, której zakres obejmuje geoinżynierię, a także własnych przemyśleń Autora. Zamieszczono także uwagi dotyczące nauczania geoinżynierii.

The article makes an attempt to sum up the changes taking place in a comprehensively understood geotechnics, geomechanics and engineering geology, the result of which is a different viewing of geo-enginecring and its solutions. The paper is an outcome of the Author's participation in two Conferences (Paris and Melbourne) that took place at the end of the last century. The article bases on considerations resulting from the content of two articles (R.N. Morgenstern and J.S. Steenfeld), summing up and generalizing the accomplishments of engineering geotechnics, the scope of which covers geo-engineering and also own considerations by the Author. Also the comments regarding teaching of ge-engineering were included.
