The paper presents a part of the research results connected with the scientific work relating to the determination of the algorithm of the tram vehicle control according to the criterion of the minimum electrical energy consumption. By way of example for the modernized tram of type 105N with choppers in the driving system, the problem of traffic time-lag liquidation by energy saving ride has been elaborated. The modern power electronics devices make possible electrical energy recuperation during the braking of the tram vehicle. The energy recovery process can considerably improve balance of the total energy consumption at the tram traffic. The exemplary calculation results have been presented for the case of unexpected stop during the tram vehicle running. Liquidation of the traffic delay, caused by this unplanned ride disturbance, was here planned within different numbers of neighbouring segments of the tram route.
