A layout of the pulse generator dedicated for fault location of three conductor coupled power lines is presented. The generator offers three outputs. The first output applies a probing pulse to the selected line while the remaining adjacent conductors are short-circuited in order to eliminate the induction of pulses at the moment of delivery of the testing pulse. Such procedure improves the process of interpretation of diagnostic data due to lack of additional impulses potentially induced in adjacent cables by the testing pulse and vice-versa.
