The paper achieves the possibility of melting of pure titanium, in crucibles made of oxide ceramic materials. The Al2O3, MgO, Zr02, Y203, CaO, , and graphite crucibles were analyzed. In individual cases, the influence of the crucible materials, the presence of additives to stabilize the oxide material and the conditions of melts on the chemical composition, microstructure and hardness melted technically pure titanium was studied. The main criterion for evaluating the suitability of presented crucibles was content in melted technically pure titanium the oxygen and impurities produced by the reaction of the liquid titanium with crucible material, to a lesser extent, life crucibles measured by the number of melt at which they are degraded.
