Many B&H organizations have implemented demands defined in the ISO 9000 series and certified their quality management systems. All these organizations had to meet requirements described in the elements of quality management system in ISO 9001:2000(2008) standard. Degree of fulfillment of these requirements can be checked by internal or external audit. This work presents results of research conducted in 204 certified organizations, 31 consultants and 11 certification houses which operate in the area of B&H according to some questions on the place and importance of internal audits in organizations with introduced quality system, about issues: effectiveness and usability of internal audits, internal audits as tools for constant improvements, the costs of internal audits, etc.
