Example of determining faults on CNC milling machine using renishaw laser calibrating system

The paper shows an example of use of Renishaw ML 10 laser machine calibration system in dynamic analysis of a machine tool. Main purpose of this measuring system is calibration of machine tools, but it can be also used to collect and analyze vibrations. Data collecting is done during measuring linear precision of a machine movement. Measurements are performed on 1 year old machining center DMU MonoBlock 60 produced by Gildmeister Company. The machine has not been used in serial production - only for laboratory works. Observations are made during a machine milling head traveling over distance of š 80 mm in K-direction. Following data has been gathered: distance, speed and velocity of the milling head. Using FFT analysis (incorporated directly in software) obtained signal is processed and frequency peaks identified. Analyzing obtained vales one can confirmed assumption that the machine is still in good condition.
