In the report an analysis and description of the possibility of application of digital cameras for evaluation of luminance of road surface is presented. In this method the luminance can be determined owing to the existence of the dependence between pixel brightness at established conditions of illumination and real surface luminance. The presented measurements and calculations were conducted both at laboratory conditions and in the land. The obtained results confirm fully the usefulness of the presented method for the determination of road luminance.
