The aim of the workshop programme is the creation of the base for cultural events in the town. The solution proposed by us is the development of "Piazza Ducale", which is a car park at present and would involve the new function of the square, a new pavement and architectural details. The project is based on the idea of water appliances, such as an oblong water pool and a fountain. The pavement would comprise of stone slabs which would limit the road traffic in the square. The channel is partially covered by steel grating to facilitate pedestrian traffic. The steel arc fountain cuts the square diagonally, forming a water curtain, which will improve the micro - climate during hot days. The water wall divides the space of the square, which in turn will create inter-related interiors. The new divide will give a feeling of intimacy for all the users of the square attractions. At the same time, the water curtain transparency and the fountain will allow the square to be perceived as an entirety, so the structure becomes interactive and sensitive to the recipients needs. Furthermore, there are new light spots and seats designed on the square. The main goal of the project is to generally change the function of the square from current escaping space into an area where it is worth stopping to enjoy the planned and surrounding attractions.
