The contemporary civil, political, social and economic transformation have a great influence on the transformation and development of the city areas. Global ization, as a civilization effect, determines two main tendencies of spatial transformation. One of them is the international trend of unification, the other one - consolidation of local peculiarities and the importance of identity and local tradition. What specifies unification most is the development of great international corporations and the technological transfer. By that we mean first of all the standardization of cultural values, as an effect of the economy superiority, and new ways of not-direct interpersonal communication, such as the migration of people. The consolidation of "localism" is a kind of self-defence of the local society, mainiy of the private sector. They guard their identity to preserve the local material culture and folk tradition. The following conclusions were drawn from the formation of the analysed map of Poznań, when taking into consideration the influence of globalization and localism on the spatial transformation and the social behaviour in the last decade, it can seen that the basic sources of those transformations are of cultural and civil nature. The spatial differences between social result from different climates and opportunities to satisfy social needs. Spatially, social polarization of the city results from the range of equipment and the cultural value of the city. All this determines the spatial people's opportunities and decides about participation concentration and interpersonal contacts. The effect of the conducted research into the city space of Poznań has shown that the social quality is mainly affected by concentrated social activities already established in people's awareness and also new ones and their availability. Social quality of the city is determined culturally (temtorialism, settlement) and by civil factors (new forms of activity, hyper and supermarkets). The present state of spatial — quality transformation of the city needs to coordinate social action at different levels to keep spatial and cultural identity of local communities.
