Selected aspects of underwater remotely operated vehicle design

The paper deals with problems of methodology of remotely operated vehicle system design. The MAGIS ROV system built at the Faculty of Maritime Technology, Szczecin University of Technology is presented where the main parts of the system and the system configuration are described. Methodology of the design process of the ROV is characterised, criteria affecting the project and underwater mission design constraints arc discussed. Some aspects of both reliability and safety with respect to ROV construction arc dealt with.
