Abstrakty
One of the main components of so called new economy is Internet. This fact brings a bit of confusion into the concepts of managing information technology (IT) services. So far, these services were delivered and supported locally or in corporate networks. However, growing popularity of Internet-based services (e-services) brings new challenges. In the paper, author tries to answer the question how the mentioned phenomena influence a modern organization and what changes in information technology and services management should be considered as best practices for e-services. First, the role of IT services is characterized. Then, a brief argument on necessary changes in managing e-services environment in comparison to the "traditional" IT services is shown, with special emphasis put on business-IT alignment. Then, possible benefits from deploying them are talked over.
