Using the turbidimetric method based on the formation of a soluble colloidal silicates, the systems containing sodium water glasses having different silicate moduli and selected salts of II group elements were studied. Basing on so called turbidity curves it can be concluded that, with the exception of magnesium sails, practically in all eases the values of turbidity increase in time, especially for the silicates of high si li-cate moduli. The nature of the course of turbidity curves is related to the type of the silicate, i.e. its silicate modulus, molecular composition of aqueous solutions and the type of the salt. Both the type of cation and anion should be taken into account. In the areas of industry and economy where water glasses are used, the value of silicate modulus should be taken into consideration as there arc significant differences in the interactions between II group elements and silicates having high and low silicate modulus.
