Structural changes in food-friendly PET at repeated processing composites prepared from PET waste
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of repeated extrusion of [he food-friendly PET, and that of PET waste such as crushed (chopped) bottles that were used for soft drinks, both (rinsed) washed in alkaline bath and unwashed (unrinsed) ones. It was learned that alkaline washing (rinsing) of reduced PET-bottlcs decreases the resistance of the polymer to degradation when it is extrusion processed in melt. Ways are suggested to modify PET to prevent decrease of its molecular weight at processing. It is shown that commercially valuable composites, among them fireproof ones, can be prepared by mixing PET with thermoplasics which contain reactive functional groups and introducing simultaneously modifiers of impact strength.
