Based on the data presented in the paper, it is clear that the most favourable conditions for the occurrence of thermal water in the Podhale Basin (Inner Carpathians) are due to: suitable geological set-up, high temperature (to 90°C at the discharge), low mineralisation (to 3 g/dm*), high discharge (over 200 m3/h), renewable resources and easy accesses to the area. The good conditions also occur in the western part of the Carpathians (Ustroń, Jaworze), where thermal waters are associated with the substratum (fractured and karstic dolomites and Devonian limestones). In this region the Miocene Dębowiec conglomerates are the prospective thermal water aquifer. The thermal waters in theflysch deposits of the Outer Carpathians are recognised in certain sites only. Due to a complicated geology, thermal waters can be obtained in a limited amount. According to the current studies, the Outer Carpathian flysch is not a prospective collector of the large amount of the thermal waters of a relatively low mineralisation.
