In the engineering community an extensive number of different terms are thrown around often without any explanation. Concurrent Engineering and Supply Chain Management are two such terms. In the present paper these two terms will be thoroughly discussed and it will be shown that they in fact are two sides of the same story. Initially the paper will deal with the definition of the terms Supply Chain Management and Concurrent Engineering and discuss them in reference to the extensive literature available on the subjects. Finally the authors will try to set them into a common perspective and show that there is no contradiction between them.
