The specific questions of designing problem-oriented databases to be applied in systems of multistage decision making are presented, these questions concerning such aspects as the genesis and distinct functions of the management systems, the relation to the reality, the applications, the data structures and the data manipulation language. Two such databases have been discussed: a database for multistage identification and a database for multistage recognition. A comparison of a database and a knowledgebase has been carried out.
