Cultural and public attitudes as well as new business approaches and life-cycle concepts have impacted and will continue to impact not only matters of consumption and use but indeed almost every aspect of the product life cycle. The recent concept of selling services rather than products, apart from its psychological and cultural consequences, calls for the reuse of parts and components in new products along with the application of extended maintenance. It also implies shorter time between models on the one hand, and extending the product life span on the other. This concept of selling services together with the life cycle approach and environmental concerns are leading to what is no less than a revolution in design and manufacturing. This paper presents these approaches and discusses the impact of these changes on the design of new products.

Postawy kulturowe i społeczne, nowe podejścia biznesowe, a także koncepcje cyklu życia wyrobów wpłynęły i będą dalej wpływać nie tylko na kwestie popytu i użytkowania, ale także na niemal każdy aspekt cyklu życia wyrobu. Nowa koncepcja sprzedaży usług zamiast produktów, oprócz konsekwencji psychologicznych i kulturowych, nakazuje ponowne używanie części i podzespołów w nowych wyrobach. Pociąga to za sobą z jednej strony skrócenie czasu pomiędzy wprowadzaniem kolejnych modeli, z drugiej zaś wydłuża okres życia produktu. Koncepcja sprzedaży usług wraz z podejściem opartym na cyklu życia i dbałością o środowisko prowadzą do rewolucji w projektowaniu i wytwarzaniu. W artykule przedstawiono powyższe kwestie i przeanalizowano ich wpływ na projektowanie nowych produktów.
