EN

The concept of life cycle engineering, based on the sustainable development idea, started to be implemented in Europe. Some initiatives undertaking in this field: Life Cycle Management, Integrated Product Policy, European Commission research actions as well as the great part of one of thematic priorities in 6'th EU Framework Programme and recently developed the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative, are presented in this paper.

W Europie rozwinięto, opartą na idei zrównoważonego rozwoju, koncepcję inżynierii cyklu życia. W artykule opisano szereg inicjatyw podjętych w tym zakresie, a zapoczątkowanych w tej dekadzie. Należą do nich: zarządzanie cyklem życia, IPP (Integrated Product Policy), akcje badawcze Komisji Europejskiej, a także istotna część jednego z priorytetów tematycznych w 6 Programie Ramowym Unii Europejskiej. W podjętej niedawno inicjatywie UNEP/SETAC w zakresie cyklu życia uwzględniono szereg wątków.
