Przedstawiono ogólne informacje o stanie technicznym Kanału Augustowskiego w strefie granicznej i po stronie białoruskiej. Omówiono działania na rzecz odbudowy kanału w strefie granicznej. Podkreślono nie tylko wartości historyczne i rangę zabytkową obiektu, ale także walory przyrodnicze terenów go otaczających. Zwrócono uwagę na istotną rolę kanału jako ważnego szlaku turystycznego łączącego państwa i narody.

The general information on the technical state of the Augustow Canal in the border zone and on the Biatorus siede as well as the activities in support of reconstruction of the Canal in the border zone have been presented. There has been also laid emphasis not only on the historical values and the monumental dignity of the object but also on the natural values of surrounding land. Attention has been paid to the meaning of the canal as an important touristic rout binding together states aned nations.
