Przedstawiono przyczyny, przebieg i skutki powodzi o typowo miejskim charakterze w rejonie Gdańska. Omówiono przerwanie wałów i zatopienie obszarów wzdłuż kanału Raduni, przebieg powodzi na potoku Strzy-ża we Wrzeszczu oraz zalanie terenów rolniczych w wyniku przerwania wału powodziowego Kłodawy. Zasugerowano również działania mające na celu zmniejszenie skutków podobnej powodzi w przyszłości.

Gdansk is a city of a very high flood danger. It may from the Dead Vistula (Martwa Wisla), from the main channel of the Vistula or from the moraine hills and the Radunia river. On the 9"1 July 2001 as the result of storm rains over relatively large area including Gdansk and its close surroudnings there was considerable run-off from urbanized moraine hills which resulted in flooding of large areas of the city and significant material losses. In the paper the causes, run and consequences of that flood have been presented. Flood in Gdansk had a typical urban character. The paper describes the breaching of dykes and flooding of terrains along the Radunia Channel, flood on the Strzyza Stream im Wrzeszcz and inundation of agricultural land due to breaching of flood dyke of the river Klodawa. There are suggested activities aimed at diminishing consequences of similar floods in the future.
