Treatment of (MeC(5)H(4)(2)ZrCl(2) with K (Na) or NaNH(2) in liquid ammonia/toluene at — 78°C led to the pentanuclear zirconium cluster [{(MeC(5)H(4)Zr(5)(u5 — N)(u(3) - NH)4(u - NH2)4] (1) and the alkali metal aggregate [(MeC(5)H(4))M]n (M = K (2) or Na). Reaction of Cp*(2)TiCl with NaNH2 in liquid ammonia/toluene at — 78 °C yielded Cp*(2)TiNH(2) (3).
