Abstrakty
The epoxidation of allyl alcohol with a 30 wt% hydrogen peroxide at various concentrations of acetone as the aprotic solvent within the range of 0-80 wt% over the TS-l has been performed. Glycidol was the major product at the high concentration of acetone. Glycerol was the major product in the region of lower concentrations of acetone. On the basis of the studies published on the epoxidation of allyl alcohol in the protic solvents the course of reaction in an aprotic environment (acetone) has been proposed. The etherification of allyl alcohol has been found to proceed relatively easily in acetone solution. The molecules of water and hydrogen peroxide are involved in the formation of the active forms of the catalyst. These forms participate in the epoxidation of allyl alcohol to glycidol. The presence of other active form of the catalyst with the contribution of the allyl alcohol molecules results in the formation of diallyl ether.
