Combined measurement of dynamic surface-tension and dynamic contact-angles of surfactant solutions

A new cell for both, surface tension measurements and contact angle determi-nation was constructed, to provide the same experimental conditions. Surface tension was measured by the drop weight method, and contact angle was measured using shape anal-ysis of sessile drops. New numerical algorithm for the contact angle calculation from the digitized video images of drops was elaborated. Young equation was used to calculate the solid liquid interfacial tension from measured contact angles of CTAB-solutions on paraf-fin surface and CTAB/air surface tension. The influence of humidity in the measuring cell on the contact angle kinetics was also investigated.
