W artykule przedstawiono przyczyny i przebieg powodzi w kwietniu 1998 r. Analiza przyczyny wystąpienia wezbrania potwierdza jak ważnym czynnikiem w jego kształtowaniu się i przebiegu są warunki hydrologiczno-meteorologiczne okresu poprzedzającego oraz pory roku wystąpienia opadu. Podano ocenę stanu zasobów wodnych przed wystąpieniem powodzi, jak również po jej zakończeniu.

The paper presents the reasons and the course of the flood in April 1998. The analysis of the reasons for occurrence of the freshet proves the view that the hydrologic-meteorologic conditions in the period privous to the occurrence of the rainfall and the season of the year when the rainfall occurred are of great importance for the develop- ment and the course of the flood. The estimation of the state of water resources before and after the flood has been given.
